G20 in Rio de Janeiro: Events Location and Sectors in Operation

The G20, the annual meeting between the leaders of the world’s largest economies, is being held for the first time in Brazil, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. That’s why we’ve prepared this special series with important information about the G20. In the first part of our series, we look at the planned closures in the city. Click here to read it.

And as of today, November 14, Rio de Janeiro has already started hosting the G20 events in the city. For the second part, we present below the locations of each of the G20 Summit events. In addition, we’ll show you which sectors will operate normally on November 18th and 19th.

Recommendations

Despite the collaboration between CET-Rio and the Municipal Guard, it is essential that citizens and sectors affected comply with the measures established by the security agencies.

For this reason, we recommend that anyone who is going to attend the G20 side events or who intends to visit areas close to the location of the events, stay informed of any updates and follow the guidelines of the security agencies to minimize disruption and ensure fluidity and safety during the G20 Summit.

Sectors operating normally

• Street commerce;
• Bars, restaurants and bakeries;
• Hotels, hostels and inns;
• Malls and other commercial centers;
• Cultural establishments such as theaters, cinemas and libraries;
• Industries in planning areas AP 3 (neighborhoods in the North Zone), AP 4 (Barra da Tijuca and Jacarepaguá) and AP 5 (neighborhoods in the West Zone);
• Essential services, such as health professionals (public or private), private security, public transportation, garbage collection and urban cleaning, funeral services and wholesalers;
• Journalistic and radio broadcasting companies;
• Pay-TV programmers and producers;
• Establishments that operate via remote work.
